• R.D. Burman the Composer:  Rahul Dev Burman (commonly known as R.D. Burman) won the best music director screen award for this movie. Unfortunately, he passed away before the movie was completed. Some of the songs were recorded after his death. He was only 54. 

• A Heartwarming Song: The song is full of descriptions of beautiful things that most people can relate to. Objects like, a deer in a forest, a moonlit night and a blooming rose. • Setting of the song: In the middle of protests and riots against British rule,  the lead actor, played by Anil Kapoor, catches a glimpse of the lead actress (Manisha Koirala) through a bus window. He is immediately enamored by the young lady. This carefree young man, who comes from a rich family, spends the day singing and looking for the girl in his small town. 

• No Recording Today:  Singer Kumar Sanu recalled that when he arrived to record this popular song, music director R.D. Burman looked at him and told him to come back another day to record the song because the singer was not well dressed. The singer was confused because he saw no connection between his clothes and recording a song but the music director insisted.  The next time, the singer went back properly dressed and clean shaven and recording proceeded. Later Burman explained that the singer's earlier appearance did not fit with  Burman's image of a handsome man singing the song about a beautiful girl, and it ruined the mood of the song for him. 

• Javed Akhtar: wrote the lyrics of the song. Originally there was no song planned at this time in the movie. Javed Akhtar felt that a wonderful song could be put in the movie right after the boy catches a glimpse of the girl. He wrote the first two stanzas of the song without much difficulty but had to struggle to write the third one.
