  • Setting of the SongRaj (Aamir Khan) and Rashmi (Juhi Chawla) are college students.  They meet at a vacation resort and fall in love. Later they find out that  their families are sworn enemies and would not approve of their relationship. The lovers secretly continue their relationship despite these obstacles. After waiting for an opportunity for a few months, they run away from their homes at night. They use a motorcycle to get out of their town, but after traveling for a while, their motorcycle breaks down.  They find an abandoned temple in a desolate location and start living in it as a married couple. They live a simple life without any luxuries, yet they are very happy because they are together.  This beautiful song shows the feelings of two young lovers who are deeply in love. The lovers are blissfully unaware that their families are trying to find them and plotting evil schemes to separate them.    

  • About the movie:  Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (QSQT) is a romantic tragedy.  It is an Indian modern day adaptation of Romeo and Juliet. The movie has been directed very well by Mansoor Khan, who won the prestigious Filmfare Award for best director for this movie. Lead actors Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla were newcomers but did a remarkably good job. They were both young and well suited for the roles. Both actors became famous because of this movie. The movie won a national award for best film and was also commercially very successful.  Several good songs make the movie more enjoyable.

  • Two Khans together again:  Director Mansoor Khan and lead actor Aamir Khan, who are cousins, also worked together in another movie called "Akele Hum Akele Tum".   • Song copied from previous work: The beginning instrumental music and the tune of the first few lines of this song seems to have been copied from a previous composition called Return to the Alamo by The Shadows.  The original music was released in 1977, which was more than a decade before QSQT movie was released.  It is not clear that any credit has been given to the original song.   • Singers Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik:  These two singers were not much older than the lead characters of the movie when they sang all the songs of this movie. Both singers were able to bring the sentiments needed to express the feelings of the youthful couple on screen. These two singers sang many popular Bollywood songs together and as solo artists.     

  • Composers Anand Milind:  Music and songs for the movie were composed by brothers Anand Shrivastav and Milind Shrivastav. They won the prestigious Filmfare award for best music director for this movie. They have composed music for numerous other Bollywood movies. Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak was one of their early movies.

  • Alka Yagnik sings: Watch singer Alka Yagnik sing a solo version of the song in a live concert.  The original was a duet song, which she sang with Udit Narayan.  This version is slightly different from the original, but this is also very good.
