Translation of Arziyan Song (first few lines):

I have brought all my requests written on my face.
What should I ask from you?
You can understand everything by yourself.

Lord, lord, lord, my lord
Lord, lord, lord, lord

Oh Lord, I have many lines on my forehead.
Please repair my fate.
I have bowed, I have been undone and I have been made at your door
Oh Lord, please repair my fate

Setting of Arziyan Song from Delhi-6

Roshan (Abhishek Bachchan), an Indian American, accompanies his grandmother (Waheeda Rehman) from the United States to India because the grandmother wants to spend her last remaining days in her ancestral home in Delhi. Roshan spends his time taking care of his grandmother and getting to know the country and culture where his parents came from. He spends a lot of time exploring the city of Delhi and taking lots of pictures with his phone camera. One such place that he visits is the Jama Masjid mosque where thousands of people have gathered for the Friday prayers and a group of musicians are performing this song. Roshan, who has a Muslim mother and a Hindu father, is fascinated by the place and atmosphere of the mosque. He also decides to join in the Friday prayers. The majestic Jama Masjid mosque  provides the perfect backdrop for this wonderful song. The mosque was built by the emperor Shah Jahan, who is also credited for erecting the famous Taj Mahal in Agra.

About Delhi-6 movie

The title of the movie, Delhi-6, comes from the last digit of the postal code 110006 for a neighborhood in an old part of Delhi, where streets are old, narrow and crowded. The movie centers around Roshan, an Indian American, who has grown up in America and does not know that much about life in India. Roshan learns about many interesting aspects of Indian culture, people and music.  He also discovers some of the negative sides of this society. Without fully realizing the risks, he inadvertently becomes involved in the communal conflicts that are flaring up in the neighborhood and pays a heavy price. The depiction of places, people and old Delhi neighborhoods has been done well in the film and seems genuine. The movie also has several good songs. Arziyan Song from Delhi-6 movie is for everybody

The song is very melodious and draws the listeners in with a prominent and captivating beat. Although this devotional song is filmed at a mosque and shows thousands of Muslims offering their prayers, it can be enjoyed by people of all religions and also by non-religious people. The creators of the song (film director, lyricist, music composer, singers etc) are a mix of Hindus and Muslims. They have not let religion prevent them from working together to create this superb song. This clearly shows that religious differences do not have to stop people from creating or enjoying good music.

Arziyan Singer Javed Ali performs live

In this live performance, singer Javed Ali sings a version of the Arziyan song without Kailash Kher. This version is quite different, particularly the last part, from the original movie version of the song yet it retains the same quality and sweetness. With very few accompanying instruments and three supporting singers, Javed Ali's smooth voice carries the song beautifully. Javed Ali is quite young and has many years ahead of him to hone the  craft further and give us many more memorable songs. Amitabh Bachchan's introduction before the song is short and very well delivered. Big B seems genuinely pleased and moved by the song.
